The material in the collection ranges approximately from 1949-2003, with the majority of the material being from 1950-1980. This collection provides information on Atz’s life, his research interests, and his work as a scientist, as well as insight into the lives and work of fellow ichthyologists.

Dr. Eugenie Clark — nicknamed "The Shark Lady" — was a world authority on sharks and fish who built Mote Marine Laboratory in 1955.
